Marin County COVID-19 Status Update for February 15, 2022 When to Mask? New Regulations in Effect Tomorrow; Testing Tuesday; New Schedule for Status Updates Coming Soon; and updated local COVID-19 data.

The Marin County COVID-19 Status Update is published weekdays and as needed to share important news and resources related to the COVID-19 pandemic and to keep the local economy running. We remain here for you.  

California’s universal indoor masking mandate lifts tomorrow, but masks will still be required in certain settings, regardless of vaccination status. What does this mean for Marin residents? 

We ask everyone to please comply with the masking rules of each business even if some have policies that are stricter than others. Common practices like social distancing, being up to date on your COVID-19 vaccinations, and always bringing a mask whenever you leave home are easy ways to stay safe. If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask while in indoor public settings, we encourage you to keep up with that practice. Both Marin County Public Health and California Department of Public Health strongly encourage the use of masks indoors, especially for our residents who are more vulnerable to infection or more at risk of severe outcomes from COVID-19.

Are you a close contact of someone who is COVID positive? Slow the spread by following Isolation and Quarantine guidance and getting a COVID-19 test 5 days after your exposure. Testing is a valuable resource to help limit the spread of the virus in our community and protect the ones you love.   

If you’re symptomatic, get tested as soon as possible, even if you’re fully vaccinated.

West America Bank Parking Lot    1177 E. Francisco Blvd, San Rafael     (open Monday - Saturday, 7am to 7pm)   This testing site will be CLOSED Monday, February 21 in recognition of the President's Day holiday. 

Marin Health and Wellness Campus / Kerner    3260 Kerner Blvd, San Rafael     (open Tuesday - Saturday, 7am to 7pm)   

Appointments are preferred and walk-up registration is available at all sites in Marin County except the Jury Duty parking lot*. PLEASE NOTE: The Larkspur Ferry Terminal and Marin Health and Wellness Campus Curative sites will be CLOSED Monday, February 21 in recognition of the President's Day holiday. The Jury Duty and the Novato Kiosk located in the Gymnastics Center parking lot will both remain open on the holiday.  

Interested in receiving FREE at-home tests? Visit COVIDtests.gov for more information and to request up to 4 free tests per household. Looking to purchase an over the counter test? Visit FindACovidTest.org for online retailers.   

If you are symptomatic and cannot obtain a test or testing appointment, treat your symptoms as COVID-19 and isolate. If you’ve tested positive with an at-home test, there is no need to confirm the result with a PCR test. Treat a positive as a positive, regardless of the type of test used, and be sure to report your result with our self-test reporting form.

New Schedule for Status Updates Coming Soon  

Starting Wednesday, February 16, the frequency of our daily Status Updates will be changing. Currently, we share a COVID-19 update five days a week, Monday through Friday. Our new schedule will be three days a week, publishing on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The change in frequency will not compromise the quality of information provided. We will continue to keep our community up to date on relevant COVID-19 news and issues that are important to Marin County.   

Remember, our COVID-19 Data page and Vaccine Data page are updated daily and will maintain that frequency. The public information section on our homepage will continue to be an immediate link to the latest information on topics like testing, vaccine clinics, isolation and quarantine and business resources. We appreciate your readership, especially as we enter a new chapter in our update distribution.
